Dr. Fenfei Leng, (Ph.D. in Biochemistry), is a tenured professor of biochemistry at Florida International University. He earned a B.S. in biochemistry from Nanjing University, Nanjing, China in 1986, a M.S. in plant pathology from Nanjing Agriculture University, Nanjing, China, and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, MS, USA in 1997. Dr. Leng completed his postdoctoral training in Dr. Roger McMacken’s laboratory at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA in 2001. Currently, Dr. Leng’s research focuses on DNA topology, DNA topological barriers, and transcription-coupled DNA supercoiling (TCDS). He also studies HMGA2-DNA interactions using different biochemical and biophysical techniques. His main contribution to science is the discovery of DNA topological barriers. Recently, he and coworkers invented a rapid and sensitive high-throughput screening method to identify compounds targeting protein-nucleic acids interactions. Dr. Leng is an editor of PLOS ONE (plosone.org).?
