So I spent the August long weekend on a 4-day roadtrip in and around Rochester. Hit up several locations, including the infamous Rochester Subway, which I've dreamed of checking out for years.
A couple of friends from the States were up here this past long weekend... so we took them underground to see some of the drains up here. We may have also scaled a building or two. Photos are up on the new location pages.
If you were expecting an update this month for explorations... it ain't happening.
With the G20 disaster rolling into town and turning the city into Fortress Toronto, I've decided to take a brief hiatus and let the "party" roll through. Yeah, I'm probably being over-cautious, but I'd rather not be exploring the inside of a cell.
I recently spent some time in Eastern Ontario, checking out some locations I've been wanting to see. Didn't see all, sadly, but at least some of them have been visited finally. Especially the mines out near Marmora. Those were worth the drive.
I recently made a trip out to Oakville with a bunch of close GTA explorers... visiting one new location and also returning to some old stomping grounds armed with a much better camera than before (as in, not a point and shoot).
Finally saw the wreckage that is known as the Oakville Lifecare Centre. The page is up, and the gallery is in, so go take a look.
It's interesting when you haven't been to a place in a long time... you get to see how drastically the place has changed. I've seen lots of places changed on a monthly or quarterly basis, but never on the scale I saw this weekend.
It was a busy January. Four location updates (including the ones today), six new locations, and even more galleries... it's been a good month.
I capped it off in Hamilton again, this time checking out another drain, the infamous Lister Block, and revisiting the Royal Connaught for some daytime shots.
Lets see if this pace continues for the rest of 2010.
So this weekend I found myself out in Hamilton, poking around with some of the explorers and drainers out there. Much fun was had, and there is much more to see. I think I'll be spending several weekends in the near future out that way...
As always, the monthly Toronto meet occurred... and new locations were found. This time it was the Leaside Rail Shops, along with a return visit to Liberty Towers. Thankfully this time it was less windy and cold, but foggier.
So I never did do an update when I went and visited Tower Automotive back in the middle of December... whoops. I did, however, go back to it recently and add more photos. I also went and found a condo with a group of people, which we proceeded to climb like any good explorers would.
Both locations are now up and visible under the 'New' heading on the redone menu, so give 'em a look.
While it was not the original destination of an outing with some fellow Toronto explorers, the King Edward Crystal Ballroom still made for an interesting and successful evening exploration. And now, with the research into it done, the site has been updated to share it with you.
So, as I've been updating the site, I've neglected to check on existing features to make sure I haven't broken them. Sadly, I managed to break the registration feature; something that only recently was pointed out to me.
The first time I visited New York Pork, I was still using my Powershot camera (for the last time, at that, since I bought the dSLR the week after). And, quite frankly, I wasn't too happy with the pictures I got from there on it.
Well, Locus Incompertus is no more. With my host shutting down and having to switch to a new provider (thanks ION LINK!), I decided it was time to switch the domain name to something simpler, and rebrand the site.
Say hello to Abandoned UE.
After yet another weekend outing, a new gem has been found and posted up for your entertainment. Take a gander at Concord Floral, located in the northern part of the GTA.
After a hiatus due to me trying to complete school (finally!), I'm back. To kick off my return, I went to the monthly meet, where we went and visited the charred remains of New York Pork & Food Exchange. Pictures are, of course, posted.
Late update this time. The galleries for Stelwire, Regal Constellation, and the Park Plaza Hotel have been up for a while; descriptions for the different locations have now been added to their respective pages. Check them out!
Another month, another Toronto urbex meet. One new location this time; the Wellington Destructor. Take a look at it.
An explorer was involved in an accident at Hearn earlier this week, and succumbed to his injuries two days later. A reminder of the risks we choose to take when we visit decaying buildings.
RIP fellow explorer.
After a day of exploring, two locations have been updated and one new one has been added. There are now photos of the Hearn interior, the Brickworks have been updated with a third gallery, and there is now information for the Famous Players Parkway 6 location.
I happened to be stuck downtown during the snowstorm last Friday, so naturally I made the best of it. I waited for the snow to stop falling, and then did a quick expo up the UC tower to get photos of the landscape, because I was in awe of what it looked like outside at 2am... completely bright. The photos are available on the UC page (and hi-res, like always, is available via email).
Long time between updates, huh?
Just a quick one here. University College on the U of T campus was paid a visit recently, and photos from that visit are now available.
After yet another night of going to new places, both the Guild Inn in Scarborough and the Canada Malting Company Plant on the waterfront have been added to the website.
Having made it back in from a trip around the U of T campus, I've tossed up the photos from last night into a new gallery on Bahen. As well, I added a new location, the Earth Sciences Building along with quasi-decent nighttime roof shots. The pictures didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, however.
Information, along with photos from a quick drive-by of the building, has been added for the R.L. Hearn Generating Station.
Well, for some reason, all of the galleries vanished from the site. I think the SQL database decided to eat them on me, unfortunately. How I loathe servers...
Anyways, they're all back up now, along with some new photos from some of my now infrequent activities around the U of T campus.
I went poking around the utility penthouse of Bahen earlier this year; I've finally taken the time to update the Bahen page with photos from this exploration.
Quick update to say that location pages for U of T's Convocation Hall and the campus' steam tunnels have been added to the site. Galleries for both have also been added in.
Well, it appears I missed a few pictures when I first uploaded the 'Bay Lower Again' gallery. That's been fixed now; they're up and available. I'm also hearing from my contacts in the TTC that security cameras have been installed down in Bay Lower... while we've heard this one before from one or two people, I'm hearing this from a substancially larger group of people, which helps add to the credibility of this claim. Either way, if you're going down there, exercise some caution.
